Archaeological test excavations for the Rome-Naples high-speed railway, section from km 209+760 to km 213+616 – Afragola (NA), Badagnano Collector

The work involved carrying out 15 test excavations along the planned route of the Badagnano Collector, which revealed, in stratigraphic sequence, traces of Roman centuriation, a Late Antique necropolis, several pit features belonging to a protohistoric settlement containing ceramic material, some of which can be attributed to Mycenaean culture, as well as traces and footprints of humans and animals preserved in the mud deposits of the “Avellino Eruption”, dated between 1880 and 1680 BC.
