Construction site impact minimisation system
System for minimising construction site impacts
The information system enables the management of all construction site phases, from planning and design to the implementation of works and maintenance, helping to reduce the impact on normal activities carried out inside and outside buildings during the establishment of construction sites. The activities carried out within the building or complex are located within a WebGIS system (Inside Building) and associated with functional, technical and logistical information (use of premises, distribution of Departments/areas/sectors., evacuation plan, etc.). All work processes are defined and digitalised through a Work Flow engine (WfMS), which also ensures consistency between the document workflow and administrative procedures. The management of all documents handled during the processes is entrusted to a Document Management System (DMS), which enables their storage and version history management. With the support of the information system, logistics and the scheduling of works can be optimally planned according to the type of intervention and the simultaneous presence of other construction sites. A routing function, appropriately adapted to the context, makes it possible to identify alternative routes to offices or escape routes in the event of obstacles caused by construction site activities or the temporary storage of materials along the building’s normal internal routes. In the specific project developed in collaboration with Invitalia S.p.A. on behalf of the New Judicial Complex of Naples, the workflows were modelled to manage building energy-efficiency improvement works, but the system was designed to be versatile and applicable to other types of intervention, such as logistics management, architectural renovation, and restoration in the architectural and archaeological fields, etc.
