Restoration of Casale delle Vignacce in the Appia Antica Regional Park
Restoration of Casale delle Vignacce in the Appia Antica Regional Park – Rome
An ancient farmhouse used for agricultural purposes, whose oldest sections date back to the 16th century and which originally belonged to the noble Caetani family, was acquired by the Appia Antica Regional Park Authority in order to restore it and use it for cultural services within the park and for visitor accommodation.
The work included a preliminary architectural survey of the structure, necessary for the development of the restoration project, followed by the restoration of the building itself through consolidation and repair of the masonry structures, replacement of the timber floor and roof structures, and restoration of the internal and external plasterwork. The new systems were designed and installed to reduce energy consumption. (2008-2011)
